Last time we talked about the selection of raw materials and precautions to improve the lighting transmittance of transparent PVC Profiles, this time I will talk about what issues should be paid attention to when designing plastic extrusion dies (product design)?
Issues that should be paid attention to in plastic extrusion design (including product design), in order to prevent poor flow back or uneven cooling, resulting in poor plastic molding, surface defects, and deterioration, generally the following points should be paid attention to during mold design:
- The wall thickness of the transparent PVC profiles should be as uniform as possible, and the draft angle should be large enough;
2. The transition part should be gradual: Smooth transition to prevent sharp corners. Sharp edges are generated, especially PC products must not have gaps;
3. Gate. The runner should be as wide and short as possible, and the gate position should be set according to the shrinkage condensation process, and if necessary, a cold well should be added;
4. The mold surface should be smooth and low roughness (preferably lower than 0.8);
Vent holes and slots must be sufficient to discharge air and gases in the melt in a timely manner;
Except for PET profiles, the wall thickness should not be too thin, generally not less than 1mm.
H.D.Plastics extrude custom clear transparent PVC plastic profiles up to 900mm wide and 1000mm tall. We also have the capability to extrude custom plastic PVC tubing up to 200mm round. We can hold tolerances of 0.05mm or better which exceeds most industry standards.
