At present, the widely used co-extrusion plastic profiles are mostly thin-walled profiles, which are generally formed by adding a certain component to the thin-walled profile extruded by a single melt. According to the different characteristics of co-extrusion materials, co-extrusion technology can be divided into three types:
1) Two Color co-extrusion on the surface of the profile: that is, a color (single color or mixed color) plastic surface layer is co-extruded on some parts or a surface of the profile to increase the color variety of the profile and improve the aging resistance and weather resistance, lighting stability and good impact resistance. The color co-extrusion technology in China’s extrusion industry is becoming more and more popular nowadays.
2) Co-extrusion of waste materials: After crushing the unqualified profiles and recycled, etc., they are co-extruded to the parts with low profile performance and quality requirements, so that the residual materials can be completely digested and the product performance can be ensured, which is to reduce consumption and protect the environment. According to foreign production statistics of plastic doors and windows, the application of waste co-extrusion technology can save about 7% of pure raw materials and reduce costs by about 5% in production.
3) Soft and Rigid co-extrusion: The hard plastic and soft plastic are compounded and co-extruded, which can integrate strength and elasticity to form materials with special purposes such as cushioning and sealing, we are capable of PVC co-extrusion profiles with a custom design.
